Frequently Asked Questions
Six iconic sporting venues are joining the NSW Office of Sport
From 1 November 2026, management of six Sydney Olympic Park sporting venues transferred to the NSW Office of Sport including the operations, people and facilities associated with those venues.
The venues are:
- Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre
- Sydney Olympic Park Archery Centre
- Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre and Warm Up Track
- Quaycentre
- Sydney Olympic Park Hockey Centre
- Sydney Olympic Park Sports Halls
Bringing these venues together under the NSW Office of Sport supports a more coordinated approach to venue management, while allowing Sydney Olympic Park Authority to focus on the future growth and development of the precinct.
The FAQs below provide more information about the transition and what it means for you.
What changed?
On 1 November Sydney Olympic Park Authority (SOPA) managed former Olympic sporting venues transferred to the NSW Office of Sport (OOS), including the operations, people and facilities associated with the venues.
What does this change mean for our customers?
There are no immediate changes to bookings, programs, venue operations or services. The same team will continue to support customers across all our sporting venues.
Why did the Office of Sport take over management of the venues?
Since the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, the precinct has evolved significantly. Today it is not only home to major sporting venues, but also residential neighbourhoods, workplaces, parklands and community spaces that serve Sydney's growing population.
The NSW Office of Sport is the lead NSW Government agency for sport and active recreation, with extensive experience managing major sporting venues across NSW. In addition to the six Sydney Olympic Park sporting venues, it manages four former Olympic sporting venues and 10 Sport and Recreation Centres across the state. Bringing these venues together under the NSW Office of Sport supports a more coordinated approach to venue management and helps strengthen participation in sport and active recreation.
Does this change affect other venues at Sydney Olympic Park?
Other venues at Sydney Olympic Park, including Accor Stadium, Afterpay Arena, Sydney Showground, ENGIE Stadium, Netball Central and Ken Rosewall Arena are not impacted by the changes.
